Sabino Canyon just does not seem to get easier with repetition. Today, I headed up and made good time (1 hr. 10 mins.), but it was hard! I almost turned around at mile marker one, mile marker two, mile marker three, you know how it is. At the top I changed shoes to defeat the blister demons, and headed back down. I think I would have finished about 10 mins. earlier if I hadn't stopped to get a rock out of my shoe and talk to a couple of ladies waiting for the tram. They admired James, so I had to be polite and talk for a few minutes! I got to the bottom to find that my round trip time was 2 hrs. 31 mins. Sabino Canyon is a lot prettier on the way down. I will take some pictures for you next Wednesday.

I just finished Norah Vincent's book Self-Made Man. If you haven't heard of it, I recommend it! Norah Vincent was a columnist for the LA Times and quit to do this book. She lived as a man for 18 months. No one guessed that she was a woman. It was a fascinating read -- she is very perceptive and articulate and is secure enough to admit that she had preconceived notions as to how men behaved and communicated when the other gender wasn't present, and how she was wrong. It was an amazing book.
