This week has been busy! I have started getting the guys ready for school and so we had dentist appointments yesterday. I had my appointment and the guys appointments scheduled for the same time, and it worked perfectly. We go to a husband and wife dental team and the wife sees only children and the husband sees only adults. While I was in the chair (scheduled for a 90 minute intake appointment), the guys were all seen by their dentist -- I didn't have to be there for any of it! However, I did get the report afterwards and it wasn't good. The guys are doing a terrible job brushing their teeth. Their dentist really reamed them out -- yelled at them but good about what a terrible job they were doing and then they all had remedial lessons on teeth brushing. None of the guys have any cavities, but Benjamin has to go back in a couple of weeks to have the tops of his molars sealed so that he won't get any cavities.
The worst thing about the dentist was that I have 3 cavities. I am SO bummed. I have never had a cavity in my entire life and here I am with THREE. This is horrible. So I have an appointment in late August to get all three of them filled at the same time. I decided to schedule the whole thing for after school starts. Andy, Benjamin and Elias start school on 9 August -- I can't believe all three of them will be getting on the bus!! James starts school on 13 August, and I think I may send him 5 days a week. So, once they are all in school, I can go to the dentist all by myself and not have to pay a babysitter.
In other news, my right heel has been really bothering me over the past several months and I have been hoping it would get better on its own. That hasn't happened, so today I visited a podiatrist to see what he had to say about it. I have a bone spur in my heel and plantar fasciitis. The podiatrist recommended that I get a cortisone shot in my heel to fix the inflammation and get rid of the pain. He also recommended that I get a new pair of inserts for my shoes since mine are about 15 years old. I went with the shot, and it was way better than I had expected it to be. It did hurt, but it wasn't deadly and the guys were fascinated to see a 2 inch needle go all the way into my heel several times. Right now, it doesn't hurt at all and I really hope it stays that way.
