So, this morning, the yard is all cleaned up and the new mailbox is all installed. Everything is getting back to normal.
I didn't get to tell you about the drive to and from Show Low in yesterday's post since it was getting just a little long and I wanted to put in more pictures, so here we go. To get to Show Low, I had to drive over a mountain. It was a big mountain and it had several runaway truck ramps along the road. Now, if I were to drive a big rig, I would want many more runaway truck ramps than the two or three I saw. The drop off on the side of the road was hundreds of feet -- and maybe as many as a thousand feet down. It was a gorgeous drive. I stopped at the bottom of the Salt River Canyon to take some pictures.
This is the bottom of the canyon -- there were little rapids farther up. I haven't ever seen landscape like this -- and in Arizona, no less! At this elevation, there were no cactus and it was all shrubs and pine trees. The strange thing about the trees though was that there were no trunks, like on the east coast. All of the trees looked like bushes and the branches all came down to the ground. I guess it was all they could do to actually grow enough leaves and branches to live!
